Nanoledge, a Pioneering developer of innovative, performance raising nano-enabled epoxy resin systems & films.

The Company is a leading epoxy resin system formulator specializing in nano-enhanced epoxy resin systems and resin films. Customers include composite material processers and manufacturers with end user applications in the aerospace, automotive, energy, civil engineering and sporting equipment industries. Leveraging years of experience in carbon nanotubes and other nanoparticles, the Company has developed precise nanoblend formulations, offering an innovative array of resin systems that raise the limits on composite material performance while maintaining compatibility with clients’ existing manufacturing processes.

Expertise and Innovation

The Company was founded as a spin-off of the prestigious French National Center for Scientific Research (CNRS) in 2001 and has a documented history of success in the research, development and manufacturing of carbon nanotubes and other nanoparticles designed for performance raising applications in material science. Leveraging this expertise, the Company shifted its focus in 2008 to developing commercially viable delivery systems for all manner of performance enhancing nanoparticles. In 2009, the Company was among the first companies in the world to introduce a nano-enabled epoxy resin system to the commercial market, delivering performance previously unachievable with standard epoxy chemistry.

Performance Enhancing Products

The Company’s products are used in the development of high performance composite materials for commercial and industrial applications. Composites are valued for their weight, cost, durability and ease-of-use advantages over traditional materials such as wood, metals and plastics. However, they face mechanical limitations which prohibit their use for certain advanced applications, including less resistance to compression; fatigue and impact; crack propagation; and mechanical failures. Composites also do not provide the same levels of thermal and electrical conductivity as metals. The Company’s nano-enabled resin systems allow composite material manufacturers to not only overcome these intrinsic limitations, but to set new limits of material performance, while delivering solutions that incorporate the benefits of composites materials.

The Company offers nano-enhanced epoxy resin formulations - precise nanoblends of carbon nanotubes, nanoclays and other nanoparticles within proprietary formulations - which raise the performance levels of traditional resin systems and downstream composite materials. CNTs do not naturally combine with polymer matrices and their properties are not normally transferable to composites. As a result, the development of a value-added nano-enhanced resin formulation has remained elusive until recently. Employing their extensive knowledge and expertise, the Company has developed a stable and scalable platform allowing for the selective transfer of nanoparticle properties to epoxy resins. These nanoblend resins can be employed in the production of new performance composite materials which provide distinct advantages over both traditional materials and composites. The performance enhancements offered by the Company’s family of resins have been independently qualified by clients and third party laboratories.

Opportunities for growth in a rapidly expanding market.

According to a 2007 study by Freedonia, the market for nano-enhanced epoxy resins is expected to grow from 15 million pounds in 2010 to 1,400 million pounds by 2014.

Proven commercial products available on the market.

The Company has moved past product development and is now in full production of commercially available off-the-shelf resin systems and films.
Furthermore, the Company has begun providing consultative services
and custom formulations for clients with advanced material and
performance specifications .

Few commercially viable competitors.

Only a small handful of companies have successfully developed applicable, high-performance, nano-enhanced resin systems for the commercial market. Even fewer can expertly customize the formulation of their nano-resins to deliver exactly the performance specifications required by specific customers in specific applications.
